Founder and President

Charlotte Cunningham

11th Grade

Charlotte has participated in school science fairs through the regional level in the categories of Chemistry and Medicine & Health. In addition, she has presented her research papers at the annual Virginia Junior Academy Symposium for the past three years. Outside of her research, she runs her own licensed neighborhood business and enjoys writing, running, and volunteering in community projects. Charlotte’s career goal is to study medicine concerning infants and young children, write scientific papers, and travel the world. She is currently interested in pursuing an academic program in college that combines medicine, research, and business to become a global health leader.

Kara Felker

11th Grade

Kara has long been interested in the health sciences. From a very young age she wanted to be a veterinarian and has since shifted her aspirations toward helping people. While reading Bill Bryson's "The Body" she was fascinated with the inner workings of the human body and decided then that that was what she would do with her life. She also wants to help more people be able to afford the routine healthcare they deserve. Aside from science, Kara enjoys music, cooking and sports.

Brandon Brigner

11th Grade

Brandon is currently involved with science though projects in the community. His interest started through classes in school and doing science fairs as well. In the future, he hopes to attend a college with medica reaserch opportunities. Brandon enjoys particIpating in track, football, and other school sports.

Sara Ahmad

10th Grade

Sara is actively engaged in science by participating at school science fairs. Her interest was sparked in science when taking Physics in 8th grade. She is passionate about careers in the STEM field and aspires to pursue her passion in high school and college. In the near future, Sara is ambitious to study medicine concerning children and underprivileged women. Apart from her passion for science, Sara enjoys cooking, running, and traveling the world.

Sasha Lin

11th Grade

Sasha is interested in the medical field and has considered becoming a pediatrician or a physicians assistant from a young age. She has a passion for helping others and hopes to inspire other people to do the same.

Chris-Antoine Amoussou

Chris-Antoine has considered medicine and surgery fascinating since he was in middle school. He has participated in many school and personal science projects, and has done a large amount of scientific research. Chris-Antoine is considering a medical career in an undetermined specialty of surgery. In his free time he enjoys Rowing, Running, Boxing, Fencing, and Golf.

Noah Lanyi-Lari

Noah Lanyi-Lari is interested in pathology and plans to major in biology. He is also fascinated in psychology and anatomy.

Siam Rezwan

Siam is an undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins majoring in Public Health from Wisconsin. He is the Founder and Chair of The Global Health Leaders Conference at Johns Hopkins University the Editor-In-Chief of The Pre-Collegiate Global Health Review, a Clinical Research Assistant in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins Medicine with projects focusing on hand and arm transplantation, and a Research Assistant in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Medical College of Wisconsin. Siam is also President of the Bangladeshi-American Student Association at JHU, a Mentor for Project Finish to Start, and a licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Siam has also interned at The University of Chicago Institute for Population and Precision Health, The University of Chicago Department of Public Health Sciences, GE Healthcare - Japan, St. Luke’s International Graduate School of Public Health in Tokyo, the Maternal and Child Health Division of the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research in Bangladesh (ICDDR,B), BRAC, and The University of Oxford Saïd Business School.

Kimi Reed

11th Grade

Kimi is engaged in science and global health through participating in the National Student Leadership Conference for biotechnology. She is interested in STEAM fields and pursues that interest by staying up-to-date with breakthroughs in the biotechnology field and actively participating in any free classes or seminars relating to it. Kimi is currently interested in pursuing an academic program in biotechnology or biomedical engineering in college.

Anika Tripathi

11th Grade

Anika hopes to become more involved with Global Health through membership of GLOHEA at WL. She is passionate about making a difference worldwide and delving into science topics and careers. She has participated in VJAS, and science fairs from the school level up to the state level in the areas of microbiology, environmental sciences, and chemistry. In the future Anika hopes to attend medical school and then specialize is an undetermined area. As of right now she is interested in neurology, ophthalmology, and cardiology but she has many years of education to explore her options. She hopes to use her medical knowledge to travel globally to help close the health disparity gap and generally help those who to not have access to medical care.

Maia Kapur

11th Grade

Maia has wanted to go into medicine since she watched Grey's Anatomy in the sixth grade. She is working towards applying to medical schools in the UK and plans to move there right after she graduates from WL. She volunteers at the VHC Medical Brigade and is working towards her End of Life Certification for Capital Caring Hospice in Arlington. She loves painting, skateboarding, and boxing and wants to become a cardiothoracic or neurosurgeon.

Glohea Chapter Summary

“Glohea at Washington-Liberty High School is a chapter of Glohea Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to increase youth involvement in global health and to develop the next generation of leaders in global health and medicine. Glohea holds the annual Global Health Leaders Conference at Johns Hopkins University through its university chapter Glohea at JHU, and manages the Pre-Collegiate Global Health Review, the first international, peer-reviewed global health publication for authors in secondary school.
